Meet the Author

Gerald Perschbacher, LL.D.

Dr. Gerald Perschbacher is a life-long St. Louisan whose Hessian-German pioneer family came to town in 1833.  He is the author of 19 published books and has been a major contributor of more than 20 others.  The recipient of the 2010 Carl Schurz Heritage Award, Perschbacher was founder and leader of three Germanic history organizations and was newsletter writer/editor plus presenter.  For most of his career he also has written monthly for Old Cars, a national collector-car publication based in Wisconsin.

Perschbacher earned his undergraduate teaching degree in Illinois and Master of Theology in Missouri, then was awarded the LL.D. (Doctor of Laws) degree by Concordia University, Chicago, in 2012.  For 40 years he was active in communication for the Int’l LLL which produced multimedia programs and materials for distribution and airing in more than 30 counties.  He also founded several archives and has spoken in more than 40 states plus eight provinces in Canada at times reaching 2,500 people at a single event.  His genealogical insights and discoveries have been widely know and shared with audiences in Germany and France during five research trips.

He and wife Sharmon live in greater St. Louis and are the parents of two and grandparents of five.
